How I Survived The Apocalypse

Sat Feb 28, 2009, 8:21 AM
Not long after watching Shaun of the Dead, I slowly began to realize that the remote Far Northern native community where I live and work during the school year, might very well be the key to surviving the Apocalypse.

We are inaccessible by road eight months each year, except in the winter, when the frigid temperatures and excessive snowfall, would prevent the reanimated zombie hordes from sucessfully traversing the hundred miles of trackless wilderness.

Furthermore, as the indisputed masters of modern hunting and gathering techniques, the local native population is both well trained, and adequately prepared, to survive indefinitely off the surrounding lands and indigenous wildlife.

In point of fact, should, for example, the Third World War suddenly envelop the entire world with the desolate fires of nuclear holocaust, we might not find out until a week afterwards, when the air mail stopped arriving.

However, even so, for the most part, life would continue, much as it always has, in our isolated little community. Realistically, would only be hard pressed in six months time, once the airport ran out of diesel fuel to run the hydro station.

My body is with me wherever I am, telling me endless stories of hunger and satisfaction, weariness and sleep, eating and drinking and breathing and life. With such company, who could ever be alone?
